This lemon drop martini reminds me of bartending on friday nights til 4am and Harry Potter.
First I’ll tell you how it reminds me of bartending. The lemon drop was a popular shot for people to order especially on friday nights. Until 4am. Much like a tequila shot, the lemon drop shot uses vodka and you lick the sugar off your hand, drink the vodka shot and suck on the lemon wedge. Some people would sprinkle the sugar on the lemon wedge and do the shot first then suck on the sugar coated lemon. Whichever the case, I recommend chilling the vodka first.
So how in the world does this lemon drop martini remind me of Harry Potter?
I just started reading the books (yes I’m 20 years late to the party, kind of like my blog) and in the very first chapter Dumbledore is eating lemon drops which he describes as “a kind of Muggle sweet I’m rather fond of”. It’s something you would never know about from the movies and I thought it was kind of ironic how I made this lemon drop martini and started reading the Harry Potter and it kept mentioning lemon drops.
So there, that’s how my brain works. Scary, I know.
