The light, smooth flavor of Irish whiskey combined with the tart citrusy flavor of lemonade and topped off with a mild, slightly spicy ginger beer makes this lemonade Irish mule a delicious, refreshing drink.
Apparently whiskey lemonade or Irish lemonade is a popular summertime drink. Just Irish whiskey and lemonade. I feel like I’ve been having a moment with mules lately, especially since I found a ginger beer that I really like. So when I was trying to think of a cocktail for St. Patrick’s Day, I saw an Irish whiskey lemonade and knew immediately that I wanted to make a mule out of it. It did not disappoint. I garnished this drink with a sprig of mint. It’s optional but I highly recommend it. It adds a subtle crispness and only a light minty flavor that just pairs perfectly with the whiskey and lemonade.
If you’re looking for some more Irish cocktails, check out these 3 drinks that ironically all use Irish whisky and Irish cream, which is a heavenly combination. First, there’s this Dublin iced coffee- Irish whiskey, Irish cream, coffee, maple syrup and Guinness. It is absolutely to die for. Then there is this delicious Tipsy Leprechaun– Irish whiskey, Irish cream, vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and Guinness. So incredibly good! Or this insanely tasty nutty Irishman– which is just Irish whiskey, Irish cream, coffee, and hazelnut liqueur. My mouth is watering as I type this. Now I can add my lemonade Irish mule to this list of St. Patrick’s Day cocktails and this one is very light and refreshing while the other 3 are “creamy.”
