A lassi is a traditional yogurt based drink in the south Asia region. It is said to have originated in India thousands of years ago. A typical lassi can be sweet with yogurt, water, spices, and sometimes fruit. There is also a salty version of a lassi.

I made a sweet, fruity version that is so smooth and refreshing. I used frozen mango pieces, pineapple juice instead of water, yogurt, honey for the sweetener, and just a pinch of cardamom. I’ve never really used cardamom before, although I must have at some point because I had a jar of the spice in my cabinet. I was a tad bit worried that the cardamom would be too overpowering in the lassi but it complimented it so well. It seriously is such a tasty drink. I’ll definitely be making this lassi come summertime.

You can use a plain whole milk yogurt or a plain Greek yogurt like I did. Actually any plain yogurt would probably work. There’s so many varieties out there now. I know lately I like to snack on coconut yogurt. You can also use a regular or fat free yogurt.

This lassi was inspired by one of my favorite bad reality TV shows- 90 day fiance the other way. It reminds me of Jenny and Summit because she moved to India to be with him. As soon as I saw this lassi I immediately thought of them. So silly I know. Even more embarrassing is that I just admitted it to you.
